FIRE GUARDING

CONTINUOUS WATCH TILL “ ALL *CLEAR ”

A full 24-hour w&tch by the Commercial Fire Guard is to be maintained from Tuesday next, at 5 p.m„ until the “all-clear” has been sounded after the subsequent trial. Section officers have now nearly completed their revised lists of personnel, and rosters are being prepared and equipment checked. Where necessary, watches are being arranged which will embrace a group of buildings. Keys, to be used in the event of an emergency, are to be handed in sealed packets to the building organisers. Fire guards on duty have to be furnished with messing, sleeping, and other necessary facilities. When the “alert” is given, all fire guards not actually detailed for service that night are to hold themselves in readiness for duty. On the sounding of the “alarm” they must proceed rapidly to their posts and remain on 'duty until the “all clear.” Former fire guards who are now in the Home Guard must return their arm bands af once.
