COMPULSION FOR HOME GUARD
Sir,—Please could you give any information with regard to when the authorities intend to enforce the regulations regarding joining the Home Guard. Guardsmen have been warned that failing to attend parade without a good excuse makes them liable to a fine of £25, or imprisonment. Do you not think it is only fair to those who have given reasonable service that the slacker should be rounded up first before threatening those who have joined up'with fines, etc. it is very noticeable that the keenest Home Guardsmen, whether farmers or in business, through good management and foresight, can always be on the job.—Yours, etc., HOME GUARDSMAN, SPRINGS COMPANY. Ellesmere, August 12, 1942,
