GIRLS AND FARM WORK
Sir,—As a country girl of 20, who has not been called up, I would suggest that if “Time They Woke Up” can (which I very much doubt) quote any definite instances where country girls should have been called up and have not been, he should put these before the Manpower Committee. This would save his stupid remarks, by which he obviously tries to belittle country girls. I could give him the occupation of eyery girl in this widespread district and I am sure he would agree that they could not be doing more for a war effort.—Yours, etc., WIDE AWAKE SHEPHERDESS. August 12, 1942. [“Time They Woke Up” may, if desired, briefly reply; otherwise this correspondence is closed.—Ed., “The Press.”]
