APPEALS AGAINST SERVICE
DECISIONS OF BOARD Most of the appeals heard before the Armed Forces Appeal Board yesterday had been lodged on the ground of the public interest and undue hardship, and a number of appellants advanced conscientious objection as an added reason why they. should be exempted from military obligations, Mr E. A. Lee presided and with him were Mr J. E. Jones and Mr G. M. Hall. Dr. A. L. Haslam represented the Crown. Decisions were given as follows: William Lyall Harris, transport worker, appeal dismissed, reservist recommended for non-combatant service; George Eric Wilson, shop assistant, dismissed, reservist to do non-combatant service; Arthur Henry James, welder, decision reserved pending the receipt of medical grading; Edmund Lawrence Stockdale, seed-clean-er, decision reserved; Cecil ■ Raymond Samuel McGeorge, appeal on conscientious grounds, allowed, reservist to render service in the E.P.S.; Raymond A. Odering, carpenter, appeal on grounds of conscience allowed; Jack Clarence Walsh, carpenter, decision reserved; George Robert McClay, dismissed, reservist to do non-combatant service; Winston Nicholson, decision reserved

Sanitarium Health Food Company, adjourned sine die: John George Thomas Eaton, railway employee, dismissed: Harvey Francis Page, dismissed: Albert Henry Marker, undertaker (Lamb and Hayward, Ltd.),.adjourned sine die; Claude H. Morgan, coach body-builder (C. Hunton), decision reserved; Leslie Scanes, storekeeper (H. L. Scanes). decision reserved; Ronald Herbert H. Ball, machinist (E. F, Ball) adjourned sine die; George William Hubbard, machinist (Empire Rubber Mills, Ltd.), adjourned sine die; Allan Upston, farmer (Francis Henry Upston), adjourned sine die; Patrick J. de V. Daly, farmer decision reserved; Alan Talbot Wright, farm hand, adjourned sine die; Alfred Ernest Chatterton, farm hand (Director of National Service), adjourned sine die; Joyce Harrison, farmer (Director of National Service), release from camp recommended; Bernard Turpin, high country musterer (Director National Service), adjourned for review in six months; Maurice Fitzglbbon, farm hand (P. Fitzgikbon), release from camp recommended appeal to be reviewed in six months; Edwin Pickering, dairy farmer, dismissed; Arthur Spencer Lewis, farmer, release from camp recommended.
