HITLER SPEAKS IN BERLIN
1 TRIALS ENDURED BY GERMANS ‘‘HARDEST BATTLES IN HUMAN HISTORY” (Received March 15. 11 p.m.) LONDON, March 15. In a speech in Berlin at the annual ceremony commemorating the German dead of the last war, Hitler said that the German nation had gone through a year of the hardest battles in human history. The further trials facing the nation could only be easier than those already borne. The Germans in Russia had had to face apparently unlimited forces of the enemy, and the last winter had been the worst for 40 years, he said. He made the significant admission that ‘‘only to-dgy do we realise the full extent of the preparations of the enemy/'
