LIQUOR AND WAR
Sir,—The sorry tale by the "Sydney Morning Herald's" war correspondent in "The Press" this morning of the debacle in Java emphasises the necessity for the elimination of alcohol as a beverage by civilian and soldier alike. Use alcohol for the motor by all means, but cut it out for human consumption. If we don't, we shall not win the war. —Yours, etc., E. M. LOVELL-SMITH. March 13, 1942.
