AIR RAID PROTECTION AT GREY HOSPITAL
Following a visit to the institution by the Minister for Health (the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer), the Grey Hospital Board has decided to erect two concrete air raid shelters at the hospital. The shelters will be of the aboveground type, and will be erected near the nurses’ home and the old people's home. . , The Minister, who was accompanied by Dr. L. C. McNickle. Director of the Division of Hospitals, held an informal meeting with the board, and discussed emergency arrangements and air-raid precautions. Mr Nordmeyer commented upon the dearth of applications for service as V.A.D.’s. He expressed surprise that the Greymouth Borough Council had not completed the water main outside the hospital, and strongly urged that the board endeavour to have this work done as soon as posS * After the departure of Mr Nprdmever, the board discussed various matters referred to in the interviews, and a decision was made to construct air-raid shelters.
