MANPOWER COMMITTEE’S

DECISIONS

The secretary of the Christchurch Manpower Committee (Mr E, D. Thompson) has announced the following decisions of the committee in the case of appeals to be transferred from the National Military Reserve to the Home Guard:

Dismissed: A. D. Annand, manager china department; Frederick William Harrison, head storeman; W. Hawke, head carpet layer; and J. Morrison, truck driver, all appealed for by A. J. White, Ltd.; and Albert K. Johnson, chief clerk, employed by North Canterbury Sheepfarmers' Freezing Company, Ltd. Ordered to be transferred to the Home Guard as soon as they can be replaced in their unit; A. E. Hobbs, accountant and insurance inspector, and A. E. G. Ly'He, branch manager, appealed for by the Otago Farmers’ Union Mutual.Fire Insurance Association; Corporal Leonard Roy Hurrell, bank officer; W. Campbell, truck driver, appealed for by Foodstuffs, Ltd. Robert Hudson, cashier-bookkeeper, appealed for by Walton Plumbing Company, was granted leave for one month as soon as possible; and Leonard Athol Mackenzie, assistant secretary and accountant,' employed by the Christchurch Returned Services’ Association, leave from April 1 to May 15. Adjourned for further consideration: R. W Midgiey, company manager, appealed for by J. Rattray and Son. Ltd.; and Edward Henry Davies, manager china department, appealed for by A. J. Vhite. Ltd. Adjourned for further inquiries: James Hugh Hutchinson, general storekeeper, and Eden William Smith, appealed for by Riccarton Timber Company, Ltd.
