LIGHTING WARDEN ASSAULTED
♦ HOUSEHOLDER FINED (P.A.) WELLINGTON. March 13. Clifford Wilmott Ross was fined £1 at the Lower Hutt Magistrate’s Court yesterday for assaulting a warden who called at his house. In a letter to the Court. Ros* said that he was m the bath when the warden called to complain about the bathroom light showing. Half-clad, he went outside and told the wardens to “get to hell out of them, said Ross, took a step towards him. so he struck the warden on the jaw and did not wait to see the consequences. .. , Counsel for Ross said that his client had had a few drinks, which would explain his irrational action.
