Near my own home there are | two schools. Addington and Addington f Convent School, with a total of approximately 600 pupils, and not a J trench of any kind provided; and the I Jerrold street reserve quite close to I both schools is planted in flowers and laid out for cricket grounds. If the City Council is going to go to sleep and let this state of affairs exist in our city I suggest that the residents or parents in the district make a start on their own and armed with shovels, etc., proceed to dig the trenches without consulting the council.—Yours, etc., NOT APATHETIC. The provision of shelters at schools was being attended to by the Education Department.
