ARMY PURCHASE OF RIFLES
DEPOTS IN COUNTRY CENTRES Depots in country centres for the purchase by the Army authorities of .22 calibre rifles and .45 revolvers, have now been arranged, and purchasing officers will attend at specified hours. Country persons without petrol will now be able to submit their rifles without the difficulty of arranging transport to the city. In addition to the list of depots published to-day, arrangements are at present being made for other country centres. Details will be given later. Owners when bringing their rifles should be sure to bring registration certificates with them. The following is a list of receiving depots:— Rangiora.—Home Guard Headquarters, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. week days. Ashburton. —Drill Hall, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 6130 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.. week days; 10 a.m. to noon Sundays. Hanmer Springs.—Mocketts Motors, Ltd., Sunday, January 18, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Waiau.—Robson’s Garage, Monday. January 19, 10 a'.m. to 5 p.m. Hawarden. —New Zealand Farmers' Co-op., Tuesday, January 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oxford.—New Zealand Farmers Co-op., Wednesday, January 21, 9 a.m. to noon. Sheffield.— Railway Station, Wednesday January 21, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Darfleld. —Pyne, Gould, and Guinness, Wednesday, January 21, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Rakaia.—New Zealand Loan Company, Thursday, January 22, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
