WINTRY CONDITIONS AT LYTTELTON
STEAMER EXPRESS HAS ROUGH TRIP
A cold south-wester which set in .at Lyttelton on Saturday morning strengthened to a . gale at night and during the early hours, of yesterday morning. Heavy rain and some hail fell at intervals. There was a light sprinkling of snow on Mount Herbert yesterday morning. Buffeted by the gale and heavy seas all night, the steamer express Wahine did not berth at Lyttelton Until 10.15 a.m., three and a half hours later than the usual time. It was the roughest passage made in the service for several months.
