YOUNG TERRITORIAL KILLED
ACCIDENT NEAR AUCKLAND (P.A.) AUCKLAND, September 28. A young territorial soldier was killed and two other young men were injured when two motor-cycles were involved in a head-on collision in McKenzie road. Mangere, at about 7 o’clock on Saturday night. The victim was: Joseph Avery Ashwin, aged 18, of Mangere. The injured were; George Daniel, fractured right thigh and head injuries, whose condition is serious; and Gilbert Noel Matthews, aged 19, head injuries, whose condition is not serious. Ashwin had almost completed his territorial training and had been on leave at home for the week-end.
