NORTH CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIPS SENIOR TROPHY WON BY I. B. CROMB I. B. Cromb won the senior championship in the North Canterbury amateur golf championship tournament at the waitikiri course in the week-end, his aggregate for two rounds being 154. A. R. Blank and L. A. Watson were next with 161, Blank being declared runner-up and Watson taking morning and afternoon medal match trophies. In the senior championship scores were: Cromb 80, 74—154; Blank 80, 81—161; Watson 81, 80—161; J. W. Jackson 82, 84—166; D. L. Woon 83, 83—166. The bogey handicap played on Saturday resulted:—E. C. Cording 1 down. R. G. Smith 4 down, R. C. Saunders 6 down. The junior championship resulted in a win for C. E. Petersen. 86, 85—171, after a play-off with H. R. Rendall and A. Manavvatu, both of whom returned 87, 84—171. The next best cards were:—A. C. Barnard 89, 83—172; R. C. Saunders 89, 84—173; J. H. The Harewood Cup teams’ match (best aggregate gross score in first round of championship) was won by the Waitikiri team—R. C. Saunders. J. C. Saunders, N. T, Satterthwaite, H. R. Rendall—with a total of 307 strokes. The Tingey Cup teams’ match (best aggregate net score in final round of championship) was won by the Shirley team— I. B. Cromb, J. W. Jackson, L. Moorhouse, and J, H. Mortlock—with a total of 334. The Quane Cup (best gross score in either round of the championship) was won by I. B. Cromb with 74. CHRISTCHURCH CLUB In the second round of the scratch competition played at the Shirley links on Saturday afternoon, I. B. Cromb beat S. N B. Wynne, 4 and 3; C. A. Seymour beat A. C. Keell, 1 up; P. H. N. Freeth beat A. A. Holland, 1 up; L. A. Dougall beat L. J. Moorhouse, 3 and 2; J. W. Jackson beat L. H. Marshall, 4 and 3. , The second round of the Richards Cup resulted:—N. B. Cook beat A. C. Riddell 1 up, from J. Thomas and A. E. Benzie, all square. R. Grimmer and R. E. Spicer were 2 down and R. Smart and J. Mardon 2 down. The final of the Taylor rose bowl was won bv G. P. Anderson and Mrs A. C. McKillop, who beat E. G. Mitchell and Mrs C. A, Rattray, 6 up and 5 to play. Millner cup semi-finals resulted; —R. Grimmer and Mrs Grimmer beat G. P. Anderson and Mrs Anderson 3 up and 2 to play: R. Spicer and Miss Parr beat N. Rickman and Mrs D. Voss, 2 and 1.
