LINCOLN TENNIS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Lincoln Tennis Club was held recently in the Lincoln Public Library. Dr. W. A. Johnston presided over a good attendance. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE CLUB Members of the Canterbury Women’s Institute Club celebrated the second anniversary of their club at a party recently held in Harmony Hall, when representatives from Burwood, Sumner Mairehau, and Mount Pleasant Institutes were invited. . The president, Mrs Davis, welcomed members and guests, and presented sprays to Mrs A. Morten, president of the Canterbury Federation, and to Mesdames Mauger, Turland, Waugh, and Young, who returned thanks on behalf of their respective institutes. Sprays were also presented to the president, secretary, and treasurer from club members. A welcome visitor was Mrs Trail (Auckland), who was the first president of the club. The birthday cake was made and iced by Mrs Davis. Mrs Morton spoke of her recent visit to the Dominion Council meeting in ■ Wellington. - Items were given by Mrs Irene Macdonald and Miss Hodgins (songs), and Miss Inez Woodcock (recitations), and a one-act play was produced by Mrs Woodford. Those taking part were Mesdames Smith, Gale, Champion, Davis, Lattaway, and Harbutt. MrS'E Rice was accompanist. WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FARMERS’ UNION CHRISTCHURCH BRANCH Mrs Dickenson gave a talk on Iraq and Persia to members of the Christchurch branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union at their monthly meeting. Mrs Wornall presided. Hostesses were Mesdames Duff, Hastie, and Gilmour. ' ' Results of the competitions were as follows:—Large bloom, Mrs Templeton I, Mrs A. Scans -2; small bloom, Mrs A. Scans 1, Mrs Lyttle and Mrs Chapman (equal) 2; vase of spring flowers, Mrs Meakin 1, Mrs Mason 2; marmalade, Mrs Mason 1, Miss Kilner 2. GOVERNOR’S BAY-ALLANDALE BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Governor’s Bay-Allandale branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held at the home of Mrs Roskilley, Mrs Greig presiding. Members decided to help the leper appeal, and to bring donations to the next meeting. A date was fixed for the birthday party, which had been postponed last month. Mrs Greig gave a talk on the remits from the recent conference, and Mrs Small read correspondence from the Lyttelton sub-centre of the Red Cross Society, and gave a list of gifts sent in last month, Mesdames Greig and Small were hostesses. Mrs R. Allan won a competition.
