APPEALS AGAINST SERVICE
* PERSONNEL QF NEW BOARDS (P.R.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 25. The personnel of the three additional armed forces appeal boards at Greymouth, Napier, and Whangarei, which it was recently decided to establish, to ease the work of the existing boards and to facilitate the prompt disposal of appeals against overseas service, was announced to-night by the Minister for National Service (the Hon. R. Semple). The boards will function from October. The Whangarei board will be known as the No. 1 Armed Forces Appeal Board, and its chairman will be Mr G. P. Finlay, barrister, of Auckland. Messrs N. Horrobin and A. J. Magee, of Whangarei, will be associated with him as members. Mr H. G. Hewlett has been appointed a deputy-member, and another deputy will be appointed soon. Mr S. I. Goodall, solicitor, of Auckland, will be the Crqwn representative. The Napier board will be known as the No. 4A Armed Forces Appeal Board, and its chairman will be Mr H. B. Lusk, barrister, of Napier; Messrs F. R. Field (Havelock North) and W. H. Barry (Napier) will be members. Messrs J. E. Benson (Gisborne) and R. N. Cook (Napier) are to be deputymembers. Mr J. S. Wauchop, solicitor, of Gisborne, is to be Crown representative. The Greymouth board will be known as the No. 5A Armed Forces Appeal Board, and will take over the Marlborough, Nelson, and West Coast districts from the present Christchurch board. Brigadier-General W. Meldrum, formerly stipendiary magistrate, is to be chairman, and he will have with him as members Mr G. Manson (Nelson) and Mr A. Panther (Greymouth). Mr P. J. McLean (Greymouth) and Mr J. Dicker (Moutere, Nelson) have been appointed deputy-members. The Crown reoresentative will be Mr H. Lovell, solicitor, of Westport.
