TROPHY MATCH

CANTERBURY TEAM TO MEET OTAGO

A challenge for the Football Association Trophy held by Canterbury has been made by Otago, and the match! will be played at English Park next Saturday. The management committee of the Canterbury Football Association has approved the Canterbury team, which is the same that won the trophy from Wellington a month ago. 1 •The team is as follows: —

N. Lambert (Technical); S. Cawtheray (Western), E. Harris (Technical); L. Beavis (Nomads), V. Smith (Technical), C. Anderson (captain, Western); C. Bailey (Technical), J. McLennan (Thistle), G. Smith,' J. Smith, R. N. Smith (Western). Reserve forwards are: K. Lucas (Army) and G. McMenamin (Celtic): half-back, A. Sutherland Thistle; full-back, J, McNaughton (Rangers). , If the ground is in bad condition the match between Otago Boys' High School and a Canterbury fourth and fifth grade boys' team,, scheduled as the curtainraiser at 1.30 p.m., will be transferred to another'ground, and only the interprovincial match, at 3 p.m., will be played at English Park. For this match, the Canterbury team will be:—S. Goldsmith (captain), G. Goss, S. Petrie, E. Falgar, D. Grieve, K. Judkins, C. Pierce, M. Corliss, R. Hilton, L. Fleete, R. Mackle. Reserves: W. Gorely, P. O'Malley, P. Schimanskl. If Canterbury retain the trophy the management committee favours September 20 or 27 for the return match with' Wellington at English Park, but, has decided to defer recommending a date to the New Zealand Association until after next Saturday’s game.
