Messrs W. Machin and M, Spencer Bower, new commissioners of the Waimakariri River Trust, were welcomed by the chairman (Mr F. W. Freeman) at yesterday’s meeting.- They were elected to fill the vacancies caused by the deaths of Messrs George Gould and R. O. Dixon. A resolution of sympathy with Mr R. Browning, a member of the board, in the death of his wife, was adopted at a meeting of the Lyttelton Harbour Board yesterday.
The Pioneer Amateur Sports Club, at its annual general meeting, re-elected Mr C. S. Thomas patron of the club, and Mr C. H. Franklin, president, with Messrs Angus Donaldson, C. Bennington, and R. H. Parser vicepresidents.
