SALES TAX REVENUE
DECREASED COLLECTIONS - IN APRIL
Sales tax receipts for April amounted to £570,671 (ordinary revenue purposes £285,313; war purposes, £285,358), as compared with £583,086 (ordinary revenue purposes, £291,443; war purposes, £291,04J) in March, states the “Abstract of Statistics.” The £285,313 .collected in April for ordinary revenue purposes compares, with receipts of £284,185 in April, 1940, as the war expenses portion of this tax did not come into operation until June 28,1940. The amount of sales tax Collected for ordinary revenue purposes during the first four months of the current calendar year was £1,084,394 as compared with £1,075,594 and £1,210,082 in the corresponding periods of 1940 and 1939 respectively.
