AVERAGE REACHES 34.40 BUSHELS

HIGHEST FOR FIVE YEARS

The average yield of wheat in New Zealand up to May 23, when 203,923 acres had been threshed, was 34.40 bushels to the acre, according to figures published in the latest Abstract of Statistics, and compiled from returns from threshing mill owners. The total yield was 7,015,341 bushels. The average is the highest since the 193538 season, when the figure was 35.63 bushels. The average yield of oats was 43.65 bushels from the 52,144 acres, threshed, a total yield of 2,275,927 bushels. The figures are:—
