ACCIDENTS
BUSHMAN’S DEATH AT NELSON CREEK (F.O.aR.) GREYMOUTH, June 10. Entering the bush near his home at Nelson Creek about 8 o’clock yesterday morning, David William Mather, aged 54, married, with three children, did not return and a search party this morning found his body. Mather was reported as missing early last evening, and when it was ascertained from his wife that he had entered the bush in the morning, a search party was organised under the direction of Constable A. W. Honey, of Ahaura. This morning a party of six searchers, with Constable Honey, covered a considerable area of bush, and eventually found Mather lying dead about a mile and a half from his home. There was no outward indication of the cause of death. Mather was a bushman, and was employed by the Lake Brunner Sawmilling Company, at Bell Hill. KNOCKED OFF BICYCLE Mr J. Perkins, of 678 Worcester street, was knocked off his bicycle in a collision with a motor-car at the corner of Cashel street and Olivier’s road last evening. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public, Hospital with concussion. His condition at a late hour was reported to be satisfactory.
