Petrol Rationing in U.S.—The United States Secretary of the Interior (Mr Harold’ L. Ickes) said that restrictions on oil consumption were probable within a month. He hoped they would be undertaken on a volutary basis rather than by compulsion. The deficiency in the populous east was likely to be very critical, necessitating a restriction in pleasure driving.—Washington. June 5. During May. 1941. ,2244 books were issued by the Greymouth Municipal Library. Thirty-eight tickets and 28 children’s tickets were issued. Twentyfive new books were placed on the shelves.
