THE MENINGITIS OUTBREAK

Precautions in North Auckland (P a ) WELLINGTON, May 7. The Minister for Health (the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer) said to-day that a close watch was being kept on the meningitis outbreak in North Auckland. “Schools have been closed and public meetings prohibited,” said the Minister. “Teachers are to stand by their schools, and not to travel from their areas. The military authorities are co-operating in limiting troop movements to a minimum. j , “In the interests of the country as a Whole, the people of the North Auckland area should not move from place to place, unless such ■travel is essential. I hope for the co-operation of the public in attacking the outbreak.’
