MEAN TEMPERATURE BELOW NORMAL ' During April cloudy skies. were-pre-dominant and the total rainfall recorded exceeded the - average of 1.832 inches, says the monthly report supplied iby the Magnetic Observatory, Christchurch. The mean temperature was’2.7B degrees below normal, although the total sunshine for the month was 25.4 hours above the average. There were six light frosts, the hardest being of four degrees. Details of the readings are:— Barometer (inches).—Mean for month, 29.989; highest reading (on April 16), 30.516; lowest reading (on April 3), 129 226 Temperature in Shade (degrees Fahrenheit).—Mean for month, 50.63; highest reading (on April 3) 74.0; lowest reading (on April 10), 33.1. . ; Temperature- Exposed.—Mean minimum on grass, 38.06; lowest reading ton April 10), 28.0.. .
