PRODUCTION OF MUNITIONS
■ —♦ CONTROLLER TO BE APPOINTED CP.A.) WELLINGTON,, May 1. Provision for the appointment of a munitions controller, and the conferring on him of wide powers in the manufacture of munitions in the Dominion, is contained in the Munitions Emergency Regulations; 1941, gazetted to-night. The controller will come under the jurisdiction of the Minister for Supply arid Munitions, and his general functions will be to organise and promote the production of munitions, and ensure the supply of materials, plant, tools and equipment for .this purpose, to undertake on behalf of the Government the production of munitions, arid to deliver them to any country within the British Dominions, and to acquire,, provide and supply munitions (hot being aircraft, motor vehicles or ships) as required by or on behalf of the Government of any country within the British Dominions, including New Zealand. The controller will be given power to require the proprietor of any undertaking to cease, restrict or increase the production of any specified class of goods, or to produce any munitions which may be specified. He will also regulate, restrict, and control the use, safe, supply, distribution and disposal of mutiiuoni generally. ,
