INCREASED HOSPITAL EXPENDITURE
EFFECT ON LOCAL BODIES At Wednesday afternoon's meeting of the Buller Hospital Boards the chapman, the Hob. W. tt, Mclntyre, M.L.C., said that increased hospital expenditure was resulting ih flfiahCih- pressure on local bodies contributing to the board. He suggested that this pressure would be relieved if about £I9OO, chargeable to the. board's maintenance account, could be made Chargeable to the loan account. Dowgray, interview the Health Department, the Local Government Loans Board, and the Auditor-General,* with a view to putting the chairman’s suggestion into practice. The motion was passed. Mr W. P. Caldwell said that the board whs . wasting money on maintaining an architectas there was no work for him to do. At this stage he was ruled out of order, as a resolution to re-employ the architect had been adopted at a previous meeting. Mr Caldwell maintained that this had been done in committee, when it should have been discussed in open meeting. He criticised the board as doing too much business in committee.
