AN INTERESTING LETTER
Miss M. G. Havelaar yesterday received from Dame Stella Reading, head of the Women’s Voluntary Services in Great Britain, the following letter, dated March 6:— ”1 am sending you a pohtograph of Her Majesty the Queen when she inspected the clothing we have received from New Zealand at our central depot; Mrs Joruan and I had the great pleasure of showing her the garments which have come to this country from ytou all, 'and I wish you could have been there tq see how delighted she was with everything we were able to show her. We were able to tell the Queen of the great number which have already oeen distributed in addition to those.ln the depot. “You cannot know what tremendous encouragement it is for us to receive such gifts from overseas, and it has a great moral effect both on the workers who handle the distribution and on those who, receive the clpthls after being bombed—we make a point of telling them from where the clothing comes, especially when it is from over, seas, and their faces light up with
