LADY GALWAY GUILD
68,800 GARMENTS SENT OVERSEAS The Lady Galway Guild will, in future, be known as the New Zealand Lady Galway Patriotic Guild. This fact was announced at a meeting of the' guild, held in the guild’s rooms, Christchurch, yesterday afternoon. The Mayoress,, Mrs R. M. Macfarlane, presided, and Mrs G. T. Hill, honorary secretary, in her report, said that in the 10 months during which the guild had been operating in Christchurch 68,867 garments had been sent or were ready to send overseas, all in perfect condition. The guild was asked to make Warm clothing and not to Send overseas cotton or silk dresses or shoes or boots. As garments were now being sent in, in good condition, there was little work, to be done In the central rooms, the report said. A few helpers only were needed to pack the goods, which were now, being sent overseas in very small, cases to ensure speedier transport. Thanks were expressed to all who had helped in the work of the guild and an appeal was made for more warm garments for stricken persons Ih Britain. ,
