WAITAKI POWER BOARD'S YEAR
* The engineer (Mr I. Dalmer), at the monthly meeting of the Waitaki Electric Power Board yesterday, reported that during March there were installed 11 ranges, eight water-heaters, and two motors. Ten new consumers were connected and there were 47 extensions and alterations to existing installations, and 76 transfers and disconnexions were dealt'with. The load added to the system was 125 kilowatts. In the country a small number of extensions were carried out, and also a considerable amount of work in connexion with alterations to street lighting and in preparing for reduced lighting and the fitting of shrouds and screens. During March the Government supplied 1,328,400 units, and 4667 units were generated by the board’s plants. The conservation of materials, stated Mr Dalmer, was urgently necessary. The secretary (Mr C. F. Jones) in his report said the profit in the trading account was £1270, compared with £2735 last year, a record year. War conditions were responsible for the reduction. The net profit for the year on all the board’s operations was £2575.
