DEFENCE OF NETHERLANDS INDIES

The Netherlands Indies Parliament passed an appropriation of 30,000,000 guilders for additional defence expenses beyond the 1941. estimates. It has been decided that, only the population of the densest areas will be evacuated if war should break out. In view of a threat of a mosquito plague, the Government has announced that the construction of public open shelters has been suspended and will be resumed only if there is actual danger.
