BOXING
SUGGESTED MATCH BETWEEN STRICKLAND AND RICHARDS SYDNEY, February 6. Commenting on the Auckland report that Maurice Strickland may come to Australia for a match with the boxer, Ron Richards, Richards’s manager, Mr Munro, said that although Richards had announced his retirement from the ring on Monday, his friends are sanguine that he will be induced to carry on with a series of matches awaiting him, including another with Fred Heneberry. It is also reported that Mr Charles Lucas is still interested in a match in Australia between Strickland and Richards, but Richards declares that he will not fight Strickland—apparently because of the discrepancy in the weights.
