ISSUE OF BUILDING PERMITS
The value represented by building permits issued in the larger # centres during July was £809,042, an cf £35,003 above the total for June, but a decrease of £502.573 below the July, 1939, figure, which, however, is tne highest total yet recorded since monthly figures first became available in issued in July fortheerection of new dwellings numbered 469, compared with 555 in June, and 621 m July, 1939. Included in the July, 1940, dwelling figures were 223 houses the construction of which was commenced by the Housing Construction Branch of the State Advances Corporation, which during the month also commenced operations on 26 new dwellings in other districts.
