PARALYSIS VIRUS DISCOVERY
IMPORTANCE TO NEW ZEALAND (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, September 20. Commenting on a cable message from Stockholm stating liiat Dr. Karl Kling. a Swedish bacteriologist, had isolated the virus of infantile paralysis. Dr. C. E. Kerens.' professor of bacteriology and dean of the Medical Faculty at Otago University, said that the facts stated by Dr. Kling were important, as there was clear evidence that so far as New Zealand was concerned, personal contact was the chief cause of the spread of- the disease. Dr. Kling was, perhaps, inclined to over-emphasise the new fact and it would be a serious mistake to accept the position as applying to New Zealand.
