RUGBY FOOTBALL
TO-MORROW’S MATCHES
The senior Rugby competition is now nearing finality, the championship contenders having narrowed down to University and Linwood, and supporters o£ both these teams will have an anxious time on Saturday, when they will have to withstand strong challenges from Air Force and Albion respectively. The University-Air Force game is the main attraction on the Lancaster Park oval at 3 p.m., and an exciting curtainraiser should be witnessed between University and Southern, the second grade finalists, who are both level with 15i points. At Rugby Park, the Linwood and Albion encounter will be very inter-
esting. Albion have been training assiduously, and defeated Christchurch last Saturday by a big margin.
REFEREES* MATCH
The following will represent the Canterbury Rugby Referees' Association against Ashburton referees at Lancaster Park south at 1.30 p.m. to-morrow; — Escott, Oliver, Falvey, Timms, Nock, Berry, Beaumont, Baird, Morgan, Stokes. Shimanski. Calder, Hewland, Rogers, Jarvis. Christianson. H. Johnston.
• General orders made by the Court of Arbitration under the Rates of Wages Emergency Regulations, 1940, will in future be extended to existing contracts of apprenticeship, according to an amendment to the regulations published with last night's Gazette. —Press Association.
