COMPETITIONS AT ASHBURTON

* FESTIVAL CONCLUDED Judging in the sixteenth annual festival of the Ashburton Competitions Society was completed last evening, when a long and interesting programme was presented. . Considerable interest was taken in the ( piano solo open championship for the , Tucker trophy, which was won by Miss ‘ Lois Manning (Christchurch), with Miss 1 Rosalind Johnston (Christchurch) runnerup. Interest in the festival was well maintained, the total attendance being very little short of last year’s. Demonstration concerts by prize-winning performers will be given this afternoon and this evening.
