MERGER OF CARTAGE FIRMS
TO THE EDITOR OP THE PEE3S. Sir,—ln a , recent paper I read a heading “Cartage Firms Merge Their Interest to Save Petrol.” This company, it is stated, consists of shingle contractors, public works, and road contractors, and general town earners. At toe present time, owing to many public works jobs being finished, toe large shingle contractors are having a quiet time, and I understand many of their large fleets of trucks are lying idle. No wonder they are rushing forming a company. They have had their harvest, and a; pretty, good one,, too, and now they are-wanting to share toe small man’s business With company managers, assistant managers,' and secretaries, the public will find that they will have to pay the piper, and pretty solidly, too; and the small carriers will all be on the dole. Yours, etc., ONLOOKER. August 26, 1940. *
