♦ “SOMETHING WILL BE DONE SHORTLY” WELLINGTON, July 31. An item of £I4OO for women police appears in the Supplementary Estimates, and when these were under consideration in the House to-night the Rf. Hon. G W. Forbes (Opposition, Hurunui). asked whether any appointments had. been made, and how many it was intended 'to appoint. : The Minister for Finance (the Hon. W, Nash) said the item had been put on the. estimates because the Minister in Charge of the Police Department (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) contemplated appointing a certain number. No appointments - had • yet been made; but something would be done shortly.
