STAND TAKEN BY RUMANIA
FURTHER CLAIMS TO BE “LIMITED” GERMAN INTERESTS In SLOVAKIA (UNITED TRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (Received July 31, 11 p.m.) LONDON, July 31. A Bucharest message says the Prime Minister (M. Manoilescu) issued a statemeht alter a Cabinet meeting, in which he said Rumania was determined to keep-the Bulgarian and Hungarian territorial claims "within certain limits,” forcibly if necessary. He added that Rumania vVas determined not to permit further loss of territory after the manner in which Russia took Bessarabia and Bukovina. It is officially stated that the British protest to Rumania declares that a return to normal Brilish-Rumanian relations cannot be looked for until the various points associated with the Rumanian treatment of British oil interests are cleared up. Great Britain has protested against interference with British shipping on the Danube, the expulsion of engineers employed on the oilfields, and interference in the administration of the Astra Rouman oil company. The Balkans correspondent of the ‘‘Daily Telegraph” says Herr Hitler has appointed Herr Manfred von Killinger as German Minister to Slovakia.
