OFFICIAL FORECASTS [THE PRESS Special Service,'] WELLINGTON, July 30. The weather- forecast for Canterbury, issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Moderate to strong north to north-west winds. Some rain in the ranges, but weather mainly fair and milder. Seas, slight to moderate. WEST COAST The forecast tor the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate to strong north to west winds. Weather unsettled, with rain probable. Moderate tempera-, turcs. Seas rough, DOMINION .The Dominion forecast is:— Weather mainly fair and milder; unsettled, however, in western and far southern districts of the South Island, with rain developing, and scattered falls later extending to Otago and the western portion of the Nelson and Wellington provinces. An anti-cyclone still covers most of the Dominion, hut pressure Is falling in the far south with the advance of an extensive depression across the south Tasman sea. Winds—Northcrlies gradually becoming general, and freshening about and south of Cook Strait, noth gales likely later in some exposed positions. Seas (New' Zealand waters)— Becoming rough on the West Coast of the South Island, and about Cook and Foveanx Straits; elsewhere; slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Strong northerly to westerly winds to gales, and rough seas in the southern portion; light northcrlies and slight to moderate seas in the central and northern portions, and wind and seas increasing gradually from the south.
