♦ WATSON CHALLENGE CUP The Canterbury Gun Dog Club recently conducted a series of land and water trials at Mr A. Hedges’s property, Waimakariri road. The Watson challenge cup. open for spaniels only, was the chief event on the programme, and was decided on a land and water test. The open and limit classes also included land and water tests. The puppy trial was on land only. Mr S. G. Mallard judged all classes, and Mr W. Hedges was the official shooter. Results: — Watson Cui>—C. J. Sowden’s Ashmore Peggotty, 183 points; T. Bradshaw’s F.T.C. Burnley, Gunner, 175 points; M. Leathem’s Patsy’s Pride, 169 points. Open Class—M. Leathem’s Patsy’s Pride, 184 points; J. M. Mitchell’s Darkie of Hawea, 173 points; A. Marker’s Sheila of Devon, 165 points. Limit Class—J. M. Mitchell's Darkle of Hawea. 193 points; H. Mackle’s Shaum of Riversdale, 141 points: A. Atkinson’s Clover of Braeville, 130 points. Puppy Class—A. Marker’s Prince Don, 97 points: J. M. Mitchell’s Madam Pomipey, 94 points: E. Fearon’s Jack of Madras. 81 points.
