ACCIDENTS
DRILL TOUCHES POWER LINE . 0 WORKMAN SUFFERS BURNS WELLINGTON, July 23. An unusual accident occurred in Victoria street this morning. An employee of the Vickery Electrical Company, V. Buckeridge, was boring holes in front of the building for the purpose of affixing a brass plate when the drill he was using struck a 400-volt electrical cable running inside the wall. There was a loud report, and a puff of flame and smoke. Buckeridge suffered burns and shock, necessitating his removal to hospital. The fire brigade was summoned, but its services were not required.
INJURIES TO CYCLIST
George Charles Buchanan, aged 19 years, of McMillan avenue, Cashmere, was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital yesterday morning suffering from concussion and abrasions caused by a fall from his bicycle on Dyer’s Pass road. His condition was not serious. .
