FORMS SENT TO FARMERS
MR HAMILTON COMPLAINS OF NUMBER
WELLINGTON, July 23. The complicated nature of some of the returns farmers are asked to fill in was mentioned by the Leader of the Opposition (the Hon. A. Hamilton) when the Estimates were being, discussed to-day. He said it was a difficult matter to furnish replies to some of the questions that were asked, "I was shown a few days ago a form which had been sent to a farmer, asking him to supply information concerning the use of petrol,” said Mr Hamilton. “There were easily 100 question? on this form, and, I am sure all the information asked for is already in the possession of some State department. The compilation of statistics asked for in some of these returns is a serious matter for farmers.” , , Mr Hamilton added that he intended to compile a list of all returns sent to farmers to be filled in, . The Acting-Minister for Agriculture (the Hori. F. Langstone) said he realised that it was very aggravating and annoying to have a lot of returns to complete. A proper stocktaking was necessary; but the issuing of returns should be minimised as much as possible.
