American’s Tribute To People’s Confidence

WELLINGTON, July 23,
Early last month one of the leading executives in a United States manufacturing concern known throughout the world returned to the United States after spending six years in Europe. In a letter received in New Zealand, commenting on the rapidly-changing scenes in the old world and the attitude of Britain in the world crisis, he said: “The English are the most grim and determined of all the belligerents as far as outward appearances are concerned, “The evidence of their preparation for invasion is on every hand. There is not a single block in all London but that signs point to an air raid shelter. The British are prepared for the worst Germany can give. They are determined to see the war through to the end, and are not deceived as to the sacrifice ahead. “They have extreme confidence in an ultimate victory that will take much more than the present reverses to shake.”,
