ASSOCIATION CHATHAM CUP REPLAY ON SATURDAY MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE’S DISCUSSION A replay of the final of the Chatham Cup was decided upon at the weekly meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Football Association last evening. Mr J. G. Barry presided. The final, which was played last week, resulted in a draw between Thistle and Western, even after extra time had been played. A letter was received from the Rangatira Club protesting against the way in which their match last Saturday with the Army team had been arranged. The club stated that they had drawn the bye in the senior reserve knock-out competition, and at the last minute the Army team had entered the competition, a team too good to play the majority of teams in the competition. The club stated that there should at least have been a new draw. Mr A. G. F. F.oss said that the committee’s action was justified under the discretionary powers given it at the annual meeting. It was desirable that the Army team be given the chance to play in the competition, and it was too late entirely to recast the draw. In any case, the Rangatira team played with the knowledge that the game was for the knock-out competition, and should have made their protest before and not after the game.

It was decided after some discussion to explain the circumstances to the Rangatira Club, and to point out that it had been too late to alter the draw. The draw for English Cup competition matches to be played on Saturday week was arranged as follows; Thistle v. St. Albans, Western v. Technical, Nomads v. Celtic, Air Force v. Rangers. Next Saturday’s Matches
