BLOCKADE OF TIENTSIN
BRITISH AGREEMENT WITH JAPAN (Received June 21, 7 p.m.) LONDON, June 20. It is officially announced that the Japanese blockade of the British concession in Tientsin has ended, but will be resumed “if there is an imperative need.” Japanese Foreign Office officials said that the blockade had been an impediment to the settlement of questions of a broader and more urgent character. There were many matters in which Japan wanted British-French co-oper-ation. Satisfaction is expressed in London at to-day’s speedy removal by the Japanese military authorities of the “blockade” restrictions imposed on the British concession in Tientsin since June of last year, says a British Official Wireless message. The decision follows the agreement announced yesterday between the British and Japanese Governments concerning various local questions relating to the British concession.
