CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING
CHRISTCHURCH CLUBS OPEN SEASON The Christchurch Harrier Club held its opening run on Saturday from the Pier tearooms, New Brighton, as guests of the president (Dr. A. L. Haslam) and Mrs Haslam A five-mile trail through Pleasant Point and along the beach was followed. Forty-eight members ran. Results:— Fast Pack—L. E. Fox 1, T. H. Bain 2, L. H. Goode 3. Intermediate—K. Taylor 1, L. W. Ford 2, L. Harper 3. Slow Pack No. I—L. Mooney 1. J. Sparkes 2, L. Sparkes 3. No. 2 Pack—D. Jardln 1. G. Hedges 2, K. Ede 3. BAPTIST CLUB The Baptist Club held its opening run over a course of between six and seven miles in the Cashmere district. The trail was laid by O. Waters and M. Claxton, and afterwards members were the guests of Mr and Mrs J. G. Brown, Elgin street. Results:— Fast Pack—F. ■ Malr 1, M. Hardy 2, M. Hensley 3. Intermediate Pack— E. Riddle 1, A. Read 2, B. Mackenzie 3. Slow Pack—D. Voller 1, C. Dlx 2, S. Perkins 3, METHODIST CLUB The Methodist Harrier Club held its opening run of the season over a distance of about five miles and a half, starting from the Durham Street Church. Results:— Fast Pack—A. H. Wayman 1, W. N. Purchase 2, H. J. Le Page 3. Medium Pack—R. P. Ewart, T. Marks 2, S. Proctor 3. Slow Pack —L. Heward 1, B. H. Shelton 3, A. H. S. Barker 3.
