.. » ;■ '' ART TREASURES, DAMAGED IN ROME ROME, January 1. Fire broke out shortly before midnight in the Apostolic Chancellery and the famous church of San Lorenzo hext to it. The fire brigade, hampered by, the bitterly cold weather, did not succeed in putting out the. fire till & ami. The cupola of the chancellery, crashed in and most of one wing of the church was destroyed. Priceless tapestries and some frescoes in the chancellery are reported to have been completely ruined, but a number of art treas-, ures were saved.
