General Franco, in a New Year address, declared his faith in a prompt Spanish renaissance in spite of -the havoc caused by the civil war, states a report from the Hendaye correspondent of “The Times.” General Franco added that the Falange would lead in carrying out without rancour a national revolution. v “All riches must be more equitably, distributed;” he said. 7' “Civil servants’ salaries increased by from 10 to 40 per cent., infantile mortality , and slum dwellings remedied, im- , ports reduced from countries not purchasing from Spain, and indus-? , trial self-sufficiency attained. Spain’s f Iruin was caused by; delivering 48,000 tons of shipping to Russia.”
