OFFICIAL FORECASTS [THE PRESS Special Servlce.l WELLINGTON, December 15. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 5 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of Issue, is as follows; • Light to moderate and variable winds. Weather fair and mild. Seas slight to moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Light to fresh winds from a westerly quarter. Weather cloudy, ■ with occasional rain. Seas moderate. DOMINION The forecast for the Dominion is:— Mostly fair in eastern districts; rather changeable elsewhere, with occasional scattered showers and fine intervals. Mild temperatures. A weak depression has been moving from the west across the Dominion, and at 3 p.m. was centred east of Cook Strait. Winds Varying between northwest and south-west, mainly moderate in force, but strong at times in some exposed positions. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea Moderate 'north-west to west winds, later tending south-westerly. Seas moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather was overcast in Christchurch yesterday, and there were light showers in the afternoon and early evening. The wind was light from the south-woct. The maximum temperature was 68 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and there was a light south-west wind. The temperature was 52 degrees, and the barometer, at 1014.6 millibars (29.96 inches), was rising. Observations taken up to 1 a.m. on December 16, at "The Press” Office:—

IN OTHER PLACES Auckland—Yesterday was sunny, with a moderate westerly wind. The maximum temperature was 80 degrees. The barometer fell slightly, the reading at 5 p.m. being 29.71 inches (1006 millibars). Wellington—After a fine morning, with a moderate but decreasing northerly wind, the sky became overcast in the afternoon. With a change to a south wind at 5 p.m., light rain started to fall. The maximum temperature was 68.4 degrees. At 6 p.m. the temperature was 58 degrees, and the barometer at 1007.3 millibars (29.745 inches). Dunedin—The weather yesterday was warm, with little wind. The temperature reached a maximum of 75 degrees. The barometer rose sharply in the afternoon to 29.90 inches (1012 millibars). OFFICIAL REPORTS
