COLLISION WITH CAR ' IN CITY A verdict that the ideath of a cyclist, Phyllis Irene Neale;; aged ;49; a widow, of 58 Birdwood avenue, on July 7, was due to an extensive fracture of the base of the skull,, associated with laceration of thebrain,. received; in ’ a collision with a car driven by James Ronald Crossan at the intersection of Moorhouse, avenue and Colombo street on the evening of July 7, was returned by the Coroner, Mr •E. :■ C. Lewey, S.M., at the inquest yesterday. Giving evidence, Crossan, who described himself- as a grocer’s assistant; said that he was travelling- west along Moorhouse avenue. He did'not see’ the cyclist until the impact occurred, and he did not see which way? she was coming from or, which r way she was going. At-the time 'of the impact, he was travelling between 18 and 21 miles an hour.
